The new Renaissance Hotel is part of a newly built Complex in the Commercial /Business area of Moscow, close to the ExpoCentre and the Hippodrome and conveniently located near Moscow City where the new Federation Towers are built and Shremeteyo Airport. In addition to the Hotel the Complex has a 3 story shopping mall, as well as a 30 plus story high end Office tower.
The design Inspiration for the Hotel is based on the Ballet Russe first introduced in Paris in the 1920’s, the ballet russe was also known for exotic themes such as Scherezade, as well as very artistic costumes, some of which were design by Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso. These costumes, the themes and the dances were very rich in patterns and colors, which were translated into the colorations and feeling in the hotel.
Also in the design of the hotel consideration was given to the movement of dance and motion, taken the fluidity of this in patterns used for interior architecture, custom lighting carpets, textiles artwork etc.
The Interior architecture and finishes are Macassar ebony, gold leaf, and other exotic woods based on the trends of 1920 Paris interiors.
As you enter into the lobby you can begin to feel the curves and lines of movement in the ceiling coves as well as the design of the receptions pods and their shimmering background. Also you are greeted by a seating grouping that behind is a 2 storey crystal curtain with gold and silver glass mosaic as a background, this crystal curtain has color changing led to give you the feeling of a stage curtain and a performance is about to begin.
On the ground level there are 2 restaurants, “Mozaic” which offers all day dining and breakfast buffet, and a specialty restaurant “Silk Route” offering a blend and fusion of all the cultures and culinary specialties of the cities and towns along this route from Venice to China.
The design of the interiors of “Mozaic” is vibrant, cheerful and yet a sophisticated space that absorbs
Different moods and feelings of the different times of the day. The carpet uses bright colors and curves again to reminiscen the influence of the Ballet Russe. The buffet room is surrounded by shimmering glass mosaics in rich red/orange and amber tones, which is also picked up in the bubbles design of the central custom designed light fixture. The dining chairs are in the deco style, and the dining tables are enriched with wood inlay patterns at the top. The buffet room closes with a wood and frosted glass doors that is back lit in the venings offering the effect of a back lit wall.
“The Silk Route” Restaurant, the design carried many of the influences of the different cultures, from the Venetian style Lighting, The gold and wood open screen used in the Persian areas as well as the carpet design that depicts and abstract Chinese cloud design. The table tops are inlaid with embossed leather with geometric patterns. It also features an open kitchen covered in Italian glass mosaics. The ceiling is an antique gold, which gives a sense of the exotic and also reflects the tomes of the color led lights in the coves to set the mood of the place.
The second floor of the Hotel features the Ballroom and meeting rooms including a board room where you can go either by elevators or by a grand staircase from the Lobby. The Crystal curtain is also the feature which captivates in the pre function area, which has separate seating groupings to have casual meetings in between the functions and on coffee breaks.
The Ballroom which as of today is the largest ballroom space in the city, features a very large carpet pattern with fluid lines and shapes, which are also resembled on the ceiling chandeliers, all them which are different shapes, yet designed in various standard sections used in different placement. The wall material a shimmering soft pattern by Ulf Moritz surrounded by millwork and columns done in Macassar Ebony using chevron pattern inlays.
Guest Rooms and suites follow the theme in the use of colors, carpet patterns, and motifs on the bed wall lights. The case good were designed to give you the outmost comfort and accommodates all the latest technologies as well as various sources of lighting in the room which creates different moods with the light sources and levels. Rosewood Vneers were used on the casegoods, and all custom design lamps where done in antique bronze. The artwork depicts also dance movement abstract but yet using a very traditional frame to contrast and to bring some traditional touches of the richness of the era of the czars…. The Hotel also features long stay suites with fully equipped modern kitchens.
The Presidential suite again follows same aesthetics as the rest of the hotel and it has a dining room, living room, library and Master Bedroom with a private seating area. The bathroom has state of the art fixtures, featuring a shower with body jets, steam aromatherapy and a bathtub with built in color led for a relaxing color therapy experience.
The Hotel also features a 2 level Executive lounge, which serves breakfast canapés etc in the first level, and the second level features relaxing private seating groupings as well as private computer stations.
The carpet patterns depict shapes and lines found in traditional Russian Architecture. Also is featured with library book cases, accessories and art to give you a residential living room feeling, where you can enjoy amazing views including the hippodrome where many times they have horse races even during the winter times.
