 Intime, the MAISON&OBJET influence itinerary

The MAISON&OBJET Observatory presents the 17th inspirations trend book on the theme of

INTIME, 2011 influence itinerary.

What remains intimate in an overexposed age that wavers between exhibitionism and discretion, between transgression and a desire for serenity? The frontiers between public and private life become hazy. The attitude towards intimacy evolves in a paradoxical way. For some, the desire to recreate a territory for themselves, away from the world’s agitation, seems necessary. For others, a rebellious effervescence stages overexposure of our violent or obscene desires. The home reveals our shade and light.

 Domestic rebellions

Between plundering and laying bare, a rebellious energy exhibits overexposed intimacy. A reaction against surrounding conformism, extravagance and derision blow aesthetic codes to smithereens... Matter and forms are shamelessly brutalized. The time is for manhandled, bumped, burnt, taped or holed objects. The violation of the home results in openly erotic expressions. A provocative but necessary fury for life…

 New comforts

In an overexposed and noisy world, our age aspires to find inner silence. Creation explores directions that bring the interior of the object to life, overlap the place in the place, imagine microwaves and virtual walls. In search of serenity, comfort of discretion recreates our own spaces. Design invents new uses, more artistic than functional, where poetry and the invisible dominate.

 New protections

Times of uncertainty reactivate the archaic desire to find shelter to regain inner peace. Ultra-contemporary archaeology of shelter and comfort responds to the need for intimacy. Architecture is inspired by original habitat and the nesting instinct to gain new heights or distance. From fragile to raw, from feather to stone, via animal hides, design takes from nature to build neo-primitive retreats.

It's in the air ans all around

September 2010 is a major moment in the history of MAISON&OBJET. This eventful session is bolstered by the inauguration of the new Hall 7 and the physical merger with Meuble Paris.

More than ever, MAISON&OBJET embodies this general, international and transversal receptiveness of the home and interior design, which make it a key business platform but also a tremendous observatory for creative expression.

The spokesperson for trends and desires, the exhibition, which is at the meeting point between various signals, continues to detect and formulate ideas and define itineraries around those ideas to make them intelligible.

The new hall, for MAISON&OBJET, provides the opportunity to support the excellence of creativity and the exhibitors that embody it, but also to facilitate and optimize trade visits.

MAISON&OBJET is developing with the Paris-Nord Villepinte exhibition centre

The development of the Paris-Nord-Villepinte Exhibition Centre coincides with the progressive blossoming of MAISON&OBJET, towards an ever more exhaustive and high quality home-style world. The venue, eco-designed by the Chaix & Morel et Associés architects firm, should act as the pivot of a unique centre of excellence. Within it and around it is an immaterial vibration that singularizes the MAISON&OBJET event.

In this state of mind, MAISON&OBJET is initiating a new stage in its history, linked to that of society surrounding it. A genuine media, the exhibition aims to be the vehicle of new suggestions and is working so that they may find their rightful position at the Villepinte site and in the home. From September, MAISON&OBJET, together with MEUBLE PARIS, becomes the showcase of all lifestyle arts and all home equipment trends.

Intimately yours

Paradoxically, the merger between the shows and inauguration concentrate the event rather than diluting it. In parallel to the emerging intimacy trend, the exhibition increases its coherence by offering everyone appropriate access with respect to expectations, but also the opportunity to take gateways leading easily from one world to another. MAISON&OBJET is thus maturing, asserting the values that make its specificity and which put the human aspect at the heart of its stance.
