Kırkby Desıgn Offers New Charmıng Collectıons

Established in 2009, Kirkby Design is part of The Romo Group, a century-old family run business located Nottinghamshire, UK. It was launched in September 2009, as a modern, high performance fabric resource library, compiled of collections with a sharp, contemporary feel colored with a well balanced, sophisticated palette. With a fresh modern approach to upholstery fabrics Kirkby Design fulfils a requirement for a reliable, affordable and practical fabric resource which provides the essential basics for interior designers, retailers, furniture manufacturers and upholsterers to use in both residential and contract specifications

Kirkby Design launched 6 new collections to add to its resource library of high performance, practical upholstery fabrics. The launch includes two collections of contemporary vinyl, Apollo and Solar featuring brilliant faux metal effects and embossed finishes; Molten a group of small scale geometrics woven from highly lustrous, cotton nylon sateen; Loop two natural looking textured plains; Crush, the relaunch of its popular crushed velvet; and Sahara a great value, 100% cotton with a soft brushed finish.

A defining characteristic of Kirkby Design is the unique colour palette, which is made up of an extensive range of practical neutrals such as, Stone, Havana, Jute and Twine, interspersed with fashionable shades including Indian Ink, Coriander, Soft Jade and Autumn Red.
Contemporary metallics feature strongly in this season’s collections.  The vinyl faux metal effects include burnished Iron, Steel Blue, Engine, and Pale Gold and the Molten collection presents geometrics woven in shimmering shades of Byzantium, Gun Metal and Silver Blue.  Eighty-eight new contemporary colors have been added to Crush including vibrant hues of Indigo, Amethyst, Damson and Citrus and the Sahara cotton has an extensive color palette in fashionable bright, versatile neutrals and popular classic tones.
This season’s launch offers excellent appeal for both residential and contact projects, with many of the fabrics reaching a Severe Contract Martindale rub test and being dual stocked with either a domestic FR version or to meet Crib 5 contract standard.  This, together with a range of styles, which span industrial chic, bohemian glamour, and simple, modern elegance gives the launch versatility to produce exciting new interiors.
‘Boutique hotels have shown signs of adventure with metallics and geometric proving popular recently.’

Meticulous care and attention has been given to specific fabric treatments to ensure many of the fabrics meet Crib 5 contract standard, and to specialist finishing techniques to improve the handle on severe domestic and contract fabrics, ensuring the high durability does not compromise on the natural look and feel of the collections.
