“We Produce Contract Textile Offering Same Appearance As Linen, Cotton, Wool And Silk Fabrics”Employing 20 designers Vanelli Tekstil produces flame retardant types of its silk, cotton, wool and linen fabrics from only Trevira CS fibers and yarns. Double layer techniques in decorative fabrics and textures made by using opaque and bright effects are the most important features of its collections. The most important feature of Vanelli contract fabrics is offering exactly the same appearance as fabrics weaved by treatment. Mr. Erol Turkun, Chairman of the Board of Vanelli Tekstil who has been producing contract textiles for many years, granted an exclusive interview t“We Produce Contract Textile Offering Same Appearance As Linen, Cotton, Wool And Silk Fabrics”o Contract Textile International about the sector:

“WE PRODUCE CONTRACT TEXTILE OFFERING SAME APPEARANCE AS LINEN, COTTON, WOOL AND SILK FABRICS”

When said “contract” usually the trade areas are thought. Hotels take the first line among these. Then comes places where people stay together such as cruise ships, offices, hospitals, aircrafts, etc. Contract textiles have been standardized in countries such as European Union and the USA. This case will be more common in the future.

OUR LAST WORK WAS FOUR SEASONS HOTEL

We generally get this type of orders from our interior customers. We made Four Seasons Hotels as our latest project for example. The system works as you enter such an international network then you welcome demand depending on the satisfaction. The laws and regulations envisage the decoration of four-five star hotels with FR fabrics. But all others except five star hotels are made by finishing for FR issue. These are, of course, not as long lasting as woven fabrics. The chemicals on fabrics loss their features after 4-5 washings and they turn out to be flammable fabrics.

Contract textiles are still very insufficient when compared with home textiles. The contract ones stay as Nish products. They don’t seem to be common in homes soon. They can only be used by those who care for their homes too much. They already do, too. Their most important handicap for usage in homes is because their creative feature is weak. Putting such products to the appearance of a wool, a linen, a cotton or a silk product appearance is very difficult and an expensive process. In that meaning these products are consumed at lower limits for sake of creativeness. Besides, they can only look like but can’t be as linen, cotton or wool no matter how much you try to make the same.

CONTRACT TEXTILE MEANS FLAME RETARDANT“We Produce Contract Textile Offering Same Appearance As Linen, Cotton, Wool And Silk Fabrics”

The most important feature of contract textiles is their being flame retardant. But there exist some problems in this flame retardancy issue. For example, the European Union countries act altogether in every issue, they utilize common laws and they have many standards altogether. But when it comes to FR issue we see different standards in each European country. This necessitates us to develop product according to the standard of the country we will export to; a fact which causes time loss for us. Works to make a common standard among all European countries are underway, however, the point they are at seems there hasn’t been too much achieved.

Contract textiles issue had been gained ground in Heimtextil this year. The companies there were the leading brands of the world in producing quality. Nish products dominated among them. What are they when I say Nish products? FR fabrics. They are, of course, not only FR fabrics. Odor repellent, antibacterial, water and stain proof fabrics, etc. are all covered by the contract textiles items.

“We Produce Contract Textile Offering Same Appearance As Linen, Cotton, Wool And Silk Fabrics”WE ARE HAPPY WITH TREVIRA SO ARE OUR CUSTOMERS

We weave our contract products with Trevira fibers. The service Trevira is offering causes us to save some more over our stock costs. For stock costs in such products are very important. The period between order and delivery is a tough time and very long. Considering this, Trevira supplies us the product in the fastest way. That’s why we prefer them. Not only us our customers are happy with Trevira, too.

NO-NAME PRODUCTS AREN’T PREFERRED

Another problem of us in contract textiles is price. There are three types of products in the market: brandy products as ours, no-name products and chemically treated products. In order to reduce prices there are customers asking us to make chemically treated products as many as those who ask for no-name products asserting that the prices are too high. In other words, there is a contradiction in terms at this regard. Since Trevira is one of the most leading companies at this regard in the world everybody expects the best solution from Trevira all the time. The solution at this regard is to put these products forward rather than no-name products.

WE ARE OPTIMISTIC ABOUT 2010“We Produce Contract Textile Offering Same Appearance As Linen, Cotton, Wool And Silk Fabrics”

There hasn’t been enough interest in the contract textiles in Evteks up to now. For this reason, we are making collections about FR fabrics for international fairs. So, we will concentrate on home textiles rather than contract textiles and have some FR fabrics, too.

I believe that our 2010 productivity will be close to the performance of 2008. We had already declared 2009 as a lost year. That’s why we make our comparisons with 2008. If we don’t face an unexpected negative situation we may achieve the figures of 2008 and may even surpass them. This shows that the effects of the crisis end. I am optimistic.
