   Isik Kadife, a leading weaver of jaqcuard upholstery and chenille fabrics in Turkey, was established in   1993. Annual output of the modern production at the company’s headquarter in the Bayrampaşa İşkent   Industrial Site of İstanbul amounts to 6 million meters and includes a wide collection of plain and dyed   qualities. The textiles - which are marketed under the Light Star brand name - meet international   standards. The company is export-oriented, with the main business focus on the US and UK markets.
Roughly 10 % of Isik’s fabrics are made of the flame retardant Trevira yarns. The cooperation with Trevira   started in 2009 when the flame retardant upholstery velvet line was launched.
„We started the Trevira CS collection upon customer request“, explains CEO Mustafa Adnan Işikyildiz. „Since   then, both the customers and we ourselves are pleased with the response of the market, and due to the positive reactions, our Trevira CS production has been developing consistently. We are very proud to declare that, only in one year, we have assured a rapid progress of our Trevira CS volumes. In Turkey, the market for flame retardant textiles is developing only slowly. Market growth here depends on the development of end consumer awareness of the advantages provided by inherently flame retardant textiles like Trevira CS. In order to increase the domestic market potential for Trevira CS, the end users must be made more aware of the safety issue. Today, the Trevira CS production in Turkey is still mostly export-oriented.“
